The DAISY Awards are an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the extraordinary care, compassion, and clinical skill provided by nurses. Created in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away from complications of an autoimmune disease, the award expresses gratitude to nurses for the meaningful difference they make in patients’ and families’ lives every day. It highlights the vital role of nursing in healthcare and serves as a reminder of the importance of kindness, dedication, and excellence in patient care.
